What a deep plane facelift does
A deep plane facelift lifts the deeper support layers of the face, not just the skin. Because those layers carry the lift, the skin is not pulled tight, and the result avoids a wind-swept look. A neck lift, done at the same time, tightens the skin and muscle under the chin.
Dr. Anghel uses a preservation technique, which aims to shorten recovery while keeping the lift natural.

Before finding her, I consulted with two other surgeons in Seattle and felt very rushed during those appointments, and the pricing was significantly higher, which made the process that much more stressful. That led me to start looking outside of bigger cities for a surgeon. From my very first consultation, Dr. Anghel was incredibly patient, thorough, and attentive. I came in with a long list of questions and concerns (I have a lot of anxiety around surgery), and she took the time to address every single one. I even met with her a couple more times before my pre-op appointment just to help me feel comfortable and confident in my decision. By the time surgery day came, I actually felt excited instead of scared. My mom, who was taking care of me, was very nervous at first, but once we arrived, the entire team was so kind, calm, and professional I could see that they made her feel so much better. What is a deep plane facelift, and how is it different from other facelifts?
Many facelifts tighten mainly the skin or a thin layer just under it. A deep plane facelift lifts the deeper support layers of the face together, so the skin is not pulled tight. The result looks like the same person, rested, rather than stretched.
How long is recovery?
Most patients return to work and social plans 10 to 14 days after surgery. Swelling peaks on day 2 or 3, bruising usually fades in 1 to 2 weeks, and about 80% of swelling is gone by one month.

Where are the scars?
For a neck lift alone, under the chin and sometimes around the earlobe. For a facelift and neck lift, under the chin and around the ears into the hairline behind them. Scars fade to thin white lines over about a year.

Wait until you have reached your goal weight and kept it stable for several months. Dr. Anghel asks patients to be within about 15 pounds of their goal before surgery.

How do I prepare?
Stop nicotine at least 4 weeks before surgery, and avoid blood-thinning medicines as Dr. Anghel directs. Plan for a support person for the first 24 to 48 hours. The practice can arrange hired help if you need it.
