What nose and chin surgery does
The nose and chin together shape the profile, so small changes to either one can change how the whole face looks in balance. Dr. Anghel plans the shape of the nose and how it works for breathing at the same time.
She uses an open approach to rhinoplasty, with a small incision across the narrow strip of skin between the nostrils. A chin implant is placed through a short, hidden incision under the chin.
Dr. Anghel also trained with Dr. Frederick Menick, a specialist in nasal reconstruction, which informs how she supports the structure of the nose.

Cosmetic rhinoplasty

Dr. Anghel reshapes the nose from within, reducing a hump or refining the tip while keeping the nose's own cartilage framework.
Functional rhinoplasty with septoplasty
For a nose that blocks breathing.
Septoplasty straightens the septum, the wall of cartilage and bone between the nostrils, when it is bent and narrows one side. A functional rhinoplasty also supports the sides of the nose if they collapse inward when you breathe in, often with small grafts of your own cartilage. The shape can be changed in the same operation.
Revision rhinoplasty
For a nose that had surgery before.
Corrects the shape or breathing after an earlier rhinoplasty. It often needs cartilage grafts to rebuild support.
Chin implant
For a weak or receding chin.
An implant placed through a small incision under the chin adds projection and definition to the jawline. May be combined with rhinoplasty.
Non-surgical chin augmentation

Hyaluronic acid filler adds temporary, reversible projection to the chin.
Liquid rhinoplasty
A non-surgical option for small changes.
Hyaluronic acid filler can soften the look of a bump, lift the tip slightly or even out minor asymmetry. Results are immediate and temporary, and the filler can be dissolved. Filler cannot make a nose smaller or improve breathing. The nose has blood vessels that filler can block, so Dr. Anghel does this treatment with particular care.
What recovery looks like
A small splint is worn on the nose for the first week. Swelling and bruising around the nose and eyes fade over the following weeks. Most patients manage discomfort with over-the-counter medicine. Avoid strenuous activity for 4 weeks; gentle walking is encouraged.

Before finding her, I consulted with two other surgeons in Seattle and felt very rushed during those appointments, and the pricing was significantly higher, which made the process that much more stressful. Who is a good candidate for rhinoplasty?
Healthy patients who want to improve the look of the nose, and sometimes how it works for breathing. Patients should have finished growing. Patients must be nicotine-free 4 weeks before and 4 weeks after surgery.
How long is recovery?
Most patients return to work and social plans 10 to 14 days after surgery. The splint comes off at one week. Swelling is about 80% better at 4 weeks, and tip swelling keeps settling for up to a year.
Where are the scars?
For rhinoplasty, across the narrow strip of skin between the nostrils and inside the nostrils. For a chin implant, under the chin.
Can rhinoplasty improve my breathing?
If breathing is blocked by a bent septum or by the sides of the nose collapsing, a functional rhinoplasty with septoplasty can improve it.
What can be combined with nose surgery?
Chin implant, eyelid surgery, fat grafting, lip lift and CO2 laser resurfacing.
How do I prepare?
Stop nicotine at least 4 weeks before surgery, and avoid blood-thinning medicines as Dr. Anghel directs. Plan for a support person for the first 24 to 48 hours. The practice can arrange hired help if you need it.
What are the risks?
Bleeding, infection, delayed healing, scarring, nerve problems, being unhappy with the result, and risks of anesthesia. Dr. Anghel reviews each of these with you at your consultation.
